Renovation of the Skidmore College rowing facility has long been on the college’s agenda as the Varsity Rowing program and Saratoga Community Rowing program grow and gain regional and national recognition.

Skidmore’s Board of Trustees hired Mosaic to design complete exterior renovations to the existing rowing facility to complement developing plans for two future buildings on the property, a 3,400-square-foot team training facility and a sculling pavilion.

Elevations, site plans and computer modeling

Working with a review committee made up of athletic and administrative representatives, Mosaic partner John Onderdonk developed preliminary designs, cost estimates and design aesthetics for both the existing facility and the proposed new buildings. Floor plans, elevations, site plans and computer modeling were provided to work out the relationships between program space, the challenges of the available site and the aesthetic features of the buildings. Soon after the release of the design, a private donor started off the capital campaign with a $750,000 contribution. Mosaic continues to assist Skidmore with fundraising and permitting support.
